Amazon and Toei Join Forces for Winter 2024 Global Debut

In an exciting collaboration, Amazon and Toei have unveiled their plans to bring Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's popular manga, "Oshi no Ko," to life through a dynamic live-action film and television series. The highly anticipated series is set to premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video in the winter of 2024.

A Star-Studded Cast: Nagisa Saitō, Asuka Saitō, and Kaito Sakurai Lead the Way

The bottom row includes Nanoka Hara as Kana Arima, Mizuki Kayashima as Akane Kurokawa, and ano as Memcho. The visual appeal is heightened by a released photo showcasing the cast in their meticulously crafted costumes.

From Manga to Screen: The Evolution of 'Oshi no Ko'"

Originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020, "Oshi no Ko" quickly gained popularity, accumulating over 15 million copies in circulation. The manga, available digitally on Shueisha's MANGA Plus service, was later licensed by Yen Press for an English audience.

A Winning Formula: Anime Success Paves the Way for Live-Action

The momentum behind "Oshi no Ko" reached new heights with the success of its television anime adaptation, which premiered in Japan on April 12. The first season, directed by Daisuke Hiramaki and Chao Nekotomi, proved to be HIDIVE's "#1 series launch in the streamer's history." Riding on this triumph, the second season is scheduled to air later this year.

A Unique Plot Twist: Gorou, Idols, and Unlikely Bonds

The manga's storyline, masterfully crafted by Akasaka (known for "Kaguya-sama: Love is War") and Yokoyari ("Scum's Wish"), weaves a captivating narrative. Centered around Gorou, a gynecologist and avid idol fan, the tale unfolds as his favorite star, Ai, takes an unexpected hiatus. Little does Gorou know that his world is about to be turned upside down as he forges an extraordinary bond with Ai, defying all conventional norms.

As fans eagerly await the global premiere on Amazon Prime Video, "Oshi no Ko" continues to prove its staying power, seamlessly transitioning from manga to anime, and now to the live-action realm. Get ready for a thrilling winter in 2024 as this captivating journey unfolds on screens worldwide.
